Calorad® is advertised as “the most powerful, dynamic liquid collagen-based dietary supplement available on the market today.” “. By providing both essential and non-essential amino acids, Calorad helps you lose weight, rebuild lean muscle tissue and restore a natural collagen base of self-repair.” Calorad® consists of two formulas, one to be taken in the morning (AM formula), and the other one at night (PM). The company sells the “Kick Start Combo” for $87.95 however, they do not offer a free trial sample.

Calorad® liquid contains Collagen hydrolysate and otherl ingredients.

* Collagen hydrolysate (CH) is an ingredient often used topically in shampoos, conditioners and cosmetic creams. It is also an ingredient found in dietary supplements, (CH) and in remedies for arthritis. Collagen is the primary connective tissue protein and it is present in skin and cartilage. Its amino acid composition is similar to that of collagen in cartilage thus collagen hydrolysate serves as a building block for the regeneration and synthesis of cartilage. CH is taken from either bovine or marine sources. More studies need to be done in order to determine if fiber alone is really helpful in weight management.

The two Calorad® blends use a formula based on a single trendy ingredient. A product that sells a product that could control carbohydrate cravings is fine, but we are not so sure if it would deliver immediate results. We would like to point out that we do not condone the use of animal byproducts in weight loss supplements and this one may just contain the said ingredients.

Liquids are not as effective in delivering the product into the bloodstream as capsules and people often complain about their bad taste. Also, taking in the correct dosage can be a problem with liquids unlike capsules which are pre-measured. With the latter, there is no risk of ingesting the wrong amount. Pharmaceutical companies use capsules. These may cost more to the manufacturer but as discussed above, they are the better choice.

Initially Calorad® seemed like a good product as it is being marketed as similar to other weight loss supplements. However, due to the lack of studies supporting the use of the chosen ingredients, our opinion has somewhat changed. The retailer sells quite a large number of supplements that it can be confusing to consumers. This product is not for people who are ready to activity lose weight. It is more suited to those who have a more casual attitude about their need to get rid of excess weight.
